Hope Deferred

After the events of yesterday (President Trump being indicted) & a restless night, I woke up this morning w/ two Scriptures on my heart:

Psalm 37:7 NKJV

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret (ḥārâ = furious, to heat oneself in vexation) because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.”

Proverbs 13:12 NKJV

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick (ḥālâ = to become weak, diseased, grieved, wounded), But when the desire (ta'ăvâ = longing of one’s heart, object of desire) comes, it is a tree of life (ḥay = revival, renewal).

This works for everyone, good and evil. Many people were hoping & praying that President Trump would be indicted, arrested & thrown in jail. When that didn’t seem to happen, their hearts were sick; when he was finally indicted, it was a tree of life to them. They felt refreshed, revived, renewed.

For the others, Psalm 37:7 is more of a reality to them:

    • the wicked always prosper

    • the wicked always get their way

    • the wicked are never held to account

Those crying that “no one is above the law” are the very ones who are.

Yes, I’ve heard all the prophetic words about the wicked, “no one is getting away with anything, they will all be held accountable” but the fact of the matter is, right now, until they ARE arrested & tried, they ARE all getting away with everything & THAT is what makes the heart of the righteous sick.

Yes, we are to think about “things above” & be primarily concerned w/ Kingdom business, but we are living in this country right now, a country that was founded on truth & justice.

I’m not sure what to think or feel right now, just keeping my eyes on Jesus...
