The Cinematic Fractionation: The 1970's
As I recover from some eye strain I'll be posting some sandbagged blogs on my personal favorite movies by decade, this week it's the:
There's very few spaghetti-westerns that I like but this one is the exception: Terrence Hill & Bud Spencer are brothers & wannabe outlaws but nothing ever goes according to their plans.
Marlon Brando & Al Pacino give powerhouse performances as a mafia father & son… everything about this movie clicks, it's perfect in every way.
Clint Eastwood comes to a small western town & turns it inside out to exact revenge from an earlier wrong; is he real or is he ghost? The films leaves it wide open...
Androids run amok in a western theme park!
An all-star cast rounds out this now classic/familiar whodunit, though I feel Albert Finney was miscast as Hercule Poirot he does do a decent job.
An absolutely haunting atmospheric movie centering on the investigation of four young ladies & their teacher who vanish on a field trip on Valentine's Day in 1900 Australia.
Probably one of the best of the Pink Panther films: from a terrible Quasimodo disguise to destroying priceless pianos, this movie is non-stop funny.
An old man, a young man, a young woman, a seasoned smuggler & his bigfoot buddy, a villain in gray, a villain in black, lightsabres & spaceships!
Honorable Mention:
A low budget, cheesy Bigfoot “docudrama” w/ terrible acting, reacting & re-enacting. It's great!
