Mordecai Part III

In Mordecai, Part I we talked about how he was a man of responsibility, taking in his orphaned cousin, raising/training/teaching/mentoring her & how we can apply that to our Christian walk in taking responsibility for the church building & for the church family by being examples of serving, worshiping, etc.

In Part II, we talked about how Mordecai inquired of Esther every day, as to her well-being & “what would become of her”, comparing it to the Early Church & how they met every day, caring about other's well-being, sharpening & encouraging each other & how we can also apply that to our Christian walk, meeting more often in person, online, encouraging each other “as we see the day approaching”.

Mordecai Part III

ATTRIBUTE #3 = Man who was PLANTED

Esther 2:19 “and when the virgins were gathered together a second time, [then] Mordecai sat (yāšaḇ = to be set) within the king’s gate.”

- Mordecai was exactly where God wanted/needed him to be

- Mordecai was doing exactly what God wanted/needed him to do

Because of this, he was in the right place at the right time to prevent the assassination of the king.  We're here for God's purpose, we can make the most of our own “right time, right place” moment [in time]; but it all comes down to being planted & there's three areas we need to touch on::

Be planted in your Community

Luke 14:13-14

“But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

Notice it says "when" you give a feast, not "if" you decide to, it was expected that you were to be a part of the community/neighborhood where God planted you.

Be planted in your Fellowship

Psalm 92:13 “Those who are planted (šāṯal = plant, transplant) in the house of the Lord  shall flourish (pāraḥ = sprout, blossom, to fly) in the courts (ḥāṣēr = settled abode, village, town) of our God.”

Be planted in the Word

2 Timothy 2:15 “study (spoudazō =  to exert one's self, endeavor) to shew (paristēmi = to stand ready or stand by to help) thyself approved (dokimos = pleasing) unto God, a workman (ergatēs = one who does) that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (orthotomeō = to proceed on straight paths, hold a straight course, to teach the truth directly and correctly)  the word of truth.”

THIS is being planted in the Word; yes it takes some work to plant yourself, not to wander off into craziness but to focus, to diligently study (& be under truth teaching) so that you stand ready… pleasing… one who does (not just hears)… one who is on a straight course.

Make the most of the time and place God has given you by:

- Glorifying Him wherever you are & whatever you do

- Accepting His sovereignty over every time & place in your life

- Making the most of the time & place He's given you, whatever/wherever that is

Some Examples of Right Place, Right Time:

- Book of Acts: Philip on the Jerusalem Road

- Book of Nehemiah: Nehemiah rebuilding the wall

- Book of Ruth: Boaz overseeing the fields

ACTION POINTS:

- be sure of where you're supposed to be ministry-wise in the fellowship

- there are positions for ministry (greeting, tech, security), find your place

- there are opportunities for ministry outside of the fellowship (food trucks, booths at schools, building homes, homeless & shelters, etc), volunteer!
